Fred Werneck

Frederico Werneck was born in Curitba, Brazil. The son of a rancher, Fred was always interested in horses and rodeo. At the young age of 20, Fred won the first of his 10 Brazilian World Championships in tie down roping event. In Brazil, Fred is famous for breaking down barriers and raising the level of competitive calf roping. Over the years, he has won the Brazilian Quarter Horse Association Futurity 7 times in both the tie down and team roping events. In addition to this, Fred has also won the Congress 6 times making him the best known and most renowned horse trainer in Brazil.


In 2007, Fred married Nicole Carman in Fort Worth, TX and permanently relocated to the United States where his success has continued. Fred, and a horse he trained and brought from Brazil named Time to Catch, were featured in an article titled “The Pride of Brazil” in the 2008 February edition of Western Horseman magazine. In Novemeber of 2010 Western Horseman again featured America’s greatest horses interviewing Fred and Time to Catch, “TC”, to showcase the success both have had togteher in the US.  Fred and his family reside in Blum, TX where he continues to pursue his career in rodeo and training horses. Making his mark on the American Horse Industry,  in 2010 alone, Fred won the American Quater Horse Association Futurity and finished 4th overall in the World Show.  The future is bright and with hard work and dedication, more success is sure to come.
